If you would like to arrange a school visit, please contact the Box Moor Trust Education and Community team first to discuss your requirements and to check for available dates. Please try to arrange your booking as early as possible as we do get booked up, particularly in the summer months.
Telephone: 01442 253300
We will post or email a booking form or, alternatively, you can download the form below. If you are visiting on more than one occasion, please fill in one form for each separate visit - do ensure that you have reserved your visit date with the office before you return the booking form.
Please provide us with as much information as possible and, in particular, the number of children and adults that will be present, any relevant equality, diversity or inclusion issues and medical condition information. Please note that our facilities at the Old Barn are not able to cope with classes of more than 37.
Completion and return of this form is essential to confirm your booking. We will then provide general information on your visit (including directions and a map), plus a Teacher's Pack giving an outline timetable, intended learning outcomes and any National Curriculum links. General information on your visit is also available via this website. If you require our pre-visit information sheet for SEN children, please contact us.
Charges are based on where your school is located and the total number of children visiting (there is no charge for accompanying adults). The Box Moor Trust, as a charity, has to focus its activities principally on its area of benefit - Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon. Allowance is also made for schools just outside the area of benefit.
Invoices will be issued and should be paid in advance of the visit.
The charges per child for each session (day or part day) are as follows:
|Schools in Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon:||£2 plus VAT (total £2.40)|
|Schools in Berkhamsted, Tring and Kings Langley:||£3.50 plus VAT (£4.20)|
|Schools from further afield (incl. Watford, Harpenden, St Albans):||£5 plus VAT (£6)|
Our Education and Community team offer assemblies to schools free of charge.
In the event of cancellation or change of date, the following will apply:
- A full refund will be made a month or more before the visit;
- 50% will be refunded if under a month but more than 10 days before the visit;
- There will be no refund if 10 days or less before the visit.
Following your visit, we will ask you to fill in an evaluation form. The children may also be asked for feedback during their visit. This information is very valuable to us as it helps us to improve our education services to schools.
The Box Moor Trust has a complaints procedure. Complaints may be made at the Box Moor Trust Centre or using a form available at the Old Barn Education Centre.
"I have really enjoyed this place so far, especially the minibeast hunting. I can't wait for this afternoon as it is going to get better. This is great, it is a super place." - Lucy, aged 8
